1. How has your Bachelors´ in IREP of Social Studies degree helped shape your career path?

My studies in IREP equipped me with a deep understanding of global political systems, international relations, and intercultural dynamics, all of which were fundamental to my aspiration to teach at international schools that emphasize cultural awareness and a global outlook. The degree challenged me to engage in meaningful discussions, debates, and presentations, significantly enhancing my ability to communicate effectively in diverse settings. Moreover, extensive research and analysis of complex subjects and case studies sharpened my critical thinking skills and laid a strong foundation for academic excellence, which continues to benefit me in my professional endeavours.

2. What were some of the most memorable courses or experiences during your Bachelors‘ IREP program?

Among the IREP courses, the most memorable are the following: Theory of International Relations, Contemporary History of Europe, Peace Economics, and International Organisations and Diplomacy. Each course brought something valuable and made me analyse contemporary issues at the global level. Theory of International Relations made me grasp certain framework of theories to understanding the structure that defines the world’s political system, while in Contemporary History of Europe course I was able to acquire very helpful information to understand Europe’s and to an extent, the word's current situation. On the other hand, Peace economics investigated the intersection of economic stability and conflict resolution which raised my interest in international development. Finally, International Organisations and Diplomacy was especially useful to me in that it provided a lot of practical information about the working and cooperative aspects of global institutions and continues to shape my career aspirations.

3. What did you enjoy the most as an international student in Brno?

I most enjoyed the connections I made with people from diverse backgrounds whether they were classmates, peers from the same degree, or friends from other faculties. These friendships enriched my experience and broadened my perspective in life.

4. What advice would you give to current students of the Bachelors‘ of Social Studies program who are looking to make the most of their education and prepare for future careers?

My advice to the current students would be to be curious and explore diverse perspectives in their education. Be actively involved in discussions, debates, and group projects to hone your communication and teamwork skills, which are invaluable in any career. Take advantage of opportunities to deepen your understanding of global issues, as this knowledge can open doors in a variety of fields. Moreover, never underestimate internships, part-time jobs, or volunteering; all these are a source of practical experience and networking. Finally, keep your mind open about your future path and be proactive in aligning your studies with your career goals, whether through specialised courses, research projects, or extracurricular activities.

5. What are your career paths´ plans?

My career plan is to become a professional educator, teaching at international schools that emphasise cultural awareness and global perspectives, particularly within International Baccalaureate systems. I aim to pursue advanced qualifications, including a TEFL certification, a PGCE, and eventually a Master’s in Education, to enhance my teaching credentials. In the long term, I plan to continue refining my skills and potentially finding myself in another part of the world, striving to make a meaningful impact in international education.
