What experiences make you a great ambassador?
I enjoy sharing information and helping people achieve their goals. I have several years of work experience in consulting and change management, which has prepared me well to be a student ambassador. I am a bit older than many of my colleagues; however I am curious, eager to learn, and eager to help others. I am honest and resourceful, and will do everything I can to answer your questions about Masaryk University, the Cultural Sociology program, and living in Brno. If I cannot answer your questions, I will find a resource that can. I am here to support you and look forward to meeting you.
What advice would you give to new students?
Ask questions of your program professors and your colleagues. Be your own advocate. Take advantage of all opportunities to learn, grow and participate. Two years is not a lot of time and there are many wonderful experiences to be had. In the Cultural Sociology program, there is a lot of reading and writing. Bring your best study habits and focus and you will thrive in the program. Enjoy the learning, embrace the international student body and knowledgeable professors and staff. Plug into student organizations and local calendars to participate in student and community activities.
What do you love most about Brno?
Brno is very easy to navigate with affordable and efficient trams and buses. The architecture is lovely. Being a student city, and a city with many international businesses, there are always local and international events and festivals. There are wonderful restaurants and cafes. It is easy to access hiking trails close to the city. Brno also offers many opportunities to travel throughout the Czech Republic or neighboring countries- whether visiting cities or immersing yourself in beautiful nature.
